Garage Sale Manager – Tui House Warkworth

Warkworth Wellsford Hospice is a specialist hospice and palliative care service which has been providing quality, professional and dedicated care to patients and families for over 30 years.   The Hospice is committed to a forward thinking and innovative approach to service development and collaboration.
Our retail business of 3 shops play an integral role in raising funds for the services we provide to our community. 

About the Role

The Garage Sale is open to the public 3 days per week (Wed – Fri) with the big focus being the much-loved Garage Sale event every Wednesday morning from 6am – 11am. The role involves working closely with our team of dedicated and passionate volunteers to receive and prepare donations for sale to ensure a fantastic customer experience for our donors and customers alike.

This is a busy, hands-on role which has a large logistics component including the coordination of collections and deliveries, distribution of stock and the management of waste and recycling.

The role is full-time 40 hours per week (Mon – Fri), with an early morning start of 6am required every Wednesday.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic retailer who ideally has had experience in the world of second hand goods and has an eye for merchandising. Strong people skills and management experience are a must as you will be managing a large team of volunteers who are integral to the successful operation of the Garage Sale.  

You will also have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a retail environment ideally with second hand goods
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and requirements
  • Strong management and leadership experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Collaborative working style
  • Ability to lead through change

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Retail Manager to be responsible for the overall management, financial performance and day to day operations of the Warkworth Hospice Shop. This is a hands-on role that will work alongside our dedicated volunteers to ensure a fantastic customer experience for our donors and customers alike.

About You

As an experienced and results-driven retail professional, you will have proven experience in managing staff and volunteers and be passionate about the world of second-hand goods. You will have a flair for merchandising and pride yourself on your ability to create retail environments that are captivating, enticing and relevant.

You will also have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a retail environment

  • Strong communication skills

  • Collaborative working style

  • Ability to lead through change

Complementary Therapy Coordinator – Family Support Team

Warkworth/Wellsford

8 hours per week

The Family Support Team play an integral role offering counselling, social work, cultural support, chaplaincy, life review and various support groups.

About the Role

This role involves ensuring the provision of expert and compassionate complementary therapy care (Massage) and wellbeing education to patients, families/whanau who access Warkworth Wellsford Hospice.

About You

Ideally you will have a well-developed understanding and experience of holistic care and the ability to demonstrate this knowledge in the context of palliative / hospice care. You will have the knowledge and skills to work with families facing loss and be able to embrace a holistic approach to patients and family’s needs.

You will also have:

  • Diploma qualification (equivalent of NZQA level 5/6) in massage
  • Current registration with relevant New Zealand professional association
  • Current comprehensive first aid certificate
  • Four years’ experience and credibility in Palliative Care / Oncology

Desirable:

  • Reiki level 2 qualification with at least six years clinical experience
  • Oncology massage postgraduate training
