Training is available through hospice for other health professionals working with palliative patients. We consider it an important part of our role to resource GPs, aged-care and allied health to provide the best palliative care possible, through formal training and clinical mentoring. We are happy to discuss your education needs with you at any time. Please contact Karen Williamson, Clinical Educator with your enquiry on 09 425 9535.
Hospice NZ Syringe Driver Training
Cost: $50 per person, payable on invoice.
Facilitated by Karen Williamson CNS, Clinical Nurse Educator.
Continuous subcutaneous infusion (CSCI) is common practice for symptom management of the patient at end of life. Competency training in the use of the ambulatory syringe driver pump (Niki T34) to administer medications is good clinical practice for any RN or EN in New Zealand in a clinical setting that delivers palliative care. This course is endorsed by Hospice NZ. Certification of competency is awarded on completion of course and written test, and is valid for 2 years.
